APC Extends Caretaker Tenure in Ekiti, Osun by Six Months

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved a six-month tenure extension for caretaker executives in Ekiti and Osun states, following a motion moved by Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin. The extension is deemed urgent for administrative organization and aims to sustain the party's leadership framework while maintaining operational continuity.

The current tenure of the caretaker committees at the ward and local government levels in Ekiti and Osun was originally scheduled to expire at the end of March 2026. Barau emphasized that the extension would facilitate the peaceful and orderly conduct of congresses and adequately prepare relevant party organs.

The extension will run until the end of September 2026, allowing for proper consolidation and preparation for the conduct of congresses. The decision was made during a national convention, which is the APC's highest decision-making body, and it was approved following deliberations among delegates.
