APC Chieftain Defends Tinubu's Small Business Advice

Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defended Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, against criticism regarding her recent advice for Nigerians, particularly women, to engage in small-scale businesses to alleviate economic hardship. Critics described her remarks as insensitive and disconnected from the realities of inflation and unemployment.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Mumuni clarified that Tinubu's message aimed to encourage economic self-sufficiency among low-income families, asserting that starting a small business could require minimal capital, ranging from N50,000 to N100,000. He emphasized that the First Lady's comments were misunderstood and intended to reflect genuine concern for economic empowerment.

Mumuni also noted that the federal government has introduced various programs to support small and medium enterprises, highlighting the need for constructive criticism and solutions to address Nigeria's economic challenges, including poverty and insecurity.
