APC Chieftain Backs Yayi for 2027 Governorship Bid

Bolaji Adeniji, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, dismissed the significance of Iyabo Obasanjo's resignation from the party, stating it would not affect the APC's chances in the upcoming 2027 governorship election. During a media briefing in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Adeniji argued that Obasanjo, a former senator, had not made substantial contributions to the party's growth since joining less than six months ago.

He emphasized that her departure would not change the party's fortunes, as she had no stake in its success. Adeniji expressed strong support for Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the APC's governorship candidate, highlighting the transparent and peaceful primary election process that led to Adeola's selection.

He also criticized Abayomi Huny's legal challenges against the primary results, asserting they lacked merit. Adeniji called for unity within the party to ensure success in the 2027 elections.
