Iyabo Obasanjo Rejoins PDP After Leaving APC

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, returned to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 31. Her resignation was addressed to Ogun APC Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi, where she cited maltreatment and lack of respect from the party leadership as reasons for her departure.

Obasanjo expressed confidence in the PDP's governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu for the upcoming 2027 elections. During her return, she indicated that she would reserve further comments until a formal declaration ceremony, hinting at grievances she felt were not adequately addressed.

She had previously served as a senator representing Ogun Central from 2007 to 2011 and was the Ogun State Commissioner for Health from 2003 to 2007. Obasanjo's return to the PDP was met with enthusiasm from party members at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta.
