APC Clears 86, Disqualifies 59 Benue Assembly Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has cleared 86 aspirants to contest in the forthcoming House of Assembly primaries while disqualifying 59 others. The disqualifications stem from alleged violations of party guidelines and constitutional provisions, as reported by the screening committee.

Auwalu Ishiy, the committee chairman, and Tijjani Abdullahi, the secretary, confirmed that a total of 146 aspirants were screened. Despite the disqualifications, the party has granted affected aspirants the opportunity to appeal the decisions.

Jame Ornguga, the state organizing secretary, disclosed that the appeal committee has already commenced hearings for dissatisfied aspirants, who have submitted formal appeals for reconsideration. The reasons for disqualification include discrepancies in documents submitted during the screening process, non-payment of party dues, and inadequate nominations.

The party aims to conduct the screening process transparently and without bias, assuring that any aspirants wrongfully disqualified will be reinstated upon verification.
