APC Disqualifies Wike Loyalists for Rivers Assembly Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified 33 candidates associated with Governor Siminalayi Fubara from the upcoming Rivers Assembly primaries. This decision follows a screening exercise that approved 65 other aspirants.

The disqualified candidates were linked to Fubara's political camp and were accused of presenting incomplete and inconsistent documentation during the screening process. Specific reasons for disqualification included failure to provide a valid voter card, party membership slip, and discrepancies in documentation such as date of birth and membership numbers.

Chibik Ikenga, an aspirant who purchased a nomination form, expressed dissatisfaction with the screening outcome and has filed an appeal with the party's secretariat, which is set to be heard on Tuesday, May 12. The situation is expected to exacerbate political tensions within the Rivers State chapter of the APC.
