Fubara Loyalists Reject APC Screening Report Outcome

Loyalists of Rivers State Governor Fubara have expressed their rejection of the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening report, which was released following a two-day screening exercise held in Port Harcourt. The screening committee, led by Ajibola Muraina, reportedly cleared 33 out of 98 aspirants, disqualifying 65 others.

Among those cleared were 28 current lawmakers, including Deputy Speaker Duml Maol and Speaker Martin Amaewhul. Allegations arose that the screening process was influenced by former faction members and that attempts were made to bribe committee members.

The report indicated various reasons for disqualification, including issues with voter cards and incomplete documents. However, Tanko Yamowa, a member of the screening committee, distanced himself from the report, calling it false and unauthorized.

He insisted that no official screening list had been released. Critics, including Solomon Lenu, argued that the process did not reflect fairness within the party and warned that disputes could create divisions ahead of the 2027 elections.
