APC Clears Yilwatda for 2026 Convention Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially cleared Yilwatda and other aspirants ahead of its 2026 convention. The screening exercise took place on March 24, 2026, at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, commencing at 9:00 AM.

The screening committee, chaired by the Ekiti State Governor, was reported to have asked Yilwatda to bow and describe his recognition of the party's leadership. The exercise was part of a broader effort to ensure that qualified aspirants emerge for various leadership roles within the party.

The screening process is expected to continue as the party finalizes arrangements for the convention. An APC chieftain, Duru, emphasized that incumbents often enjoy the first right to seek re-election within a democratic system, noting that this principle applies to elected officials who have completed their first term.

The party aims to encourage officeholders to perform better, allowing voters to assess their performance.
