APC closes Osun campaign with show of force behind Oyebamiji

On Thursday, the All Progressives Congress orchestrated a final campaign demonstration in Osogbo, mobilising heavyweight party figures to drum up support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, its governorship candidate in Osun State. Crowds of party loyalists and political leaders from around Nigeria converged at Freedom Park for the rally, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio representing President Bola Tinubu.

Ahead of Saturday's August 15 election, Akpabio conveyed an assurance of security to Osun voters. Pledging on behalf of the President, the Senate President committed that adequate protection would be guaranteed by the federal government at polling units, encouraging residents to vote without intimidation.

He called for widespread participation in the democratic exercise. Attending the gathering were diverse figures from APC leadership ranks: Chief Bisi Akande, the party's pioneer national chairman; Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who currently serves as APC National Chairman; Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State; and Dr Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

These and other senior party officials used the occasion to reinforce backing for Oyebamiji in the final stretch before the election. Party leaders stressed the necessity of conducting the election peacefully and in an orderly manner.

With this concluding campaign push, the APC sought to energise its supporters and reinforce its candidate's positioning in the governorship race.
