APC Holds 8th National Convention to Elect New Leaders

The All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted its 8th national convention, where a total of 8,453 delegates were present to elect new national officers. The event, which took place in Abuja, was marked by the presence of President Bola Tinubu and highlighted the significance of the convention in the context of Nigeria's political history.

The convention served as a platform to reinforce the party's commitment to democracy and unity among its members. Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari, who chaired the convention, stressed that leadership is a service and not a privilege.

The APC's history includes its formation from a coalition of opposition parties in 2013, and the convention was seen as a crucial moment for the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections. The event also addressed the implications of the repeal of the Electoral Act 2022 and the introduction of the Electoral Act 2026, which aims to ensure compliance with new legal frameworks for electoral activities.
