Adamawa APC Crisis Deepens as Aspirant Resigns

Maurice Vonobolki, a governorship aspirant, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a press conference in Yola on Tuesday. He cited injustices and an attempt to impose candidates contrary to democratic principles as reasons for his departure.

This decision comes amidst an internal crisis within the APC in Adamawa State, exacerbated by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's recent defection to the party. Vonobolki expressed concerns over the lack of fair internal democratic processes, despite assurances from Governor Fintiri that a committee would produce a framework for ongoing party congresses.

He highlighted irregularities in membership registration, including the use of people's National Identification Numbers (NIN) without consent, aimed at inflating membership numbers for electoral advantage. Vonobolki's resignation reflects broader dissatisfaction within the party and a call for support across all 21 local government areas in Adamawa State.

He has withdrawn his membership from the APC and awaits guidance on his next steps.
