APC Schedules Presidential Primary for May 23, 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially set the date for its presidential primary election to May 23, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections. This announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday, which also refuted circulating reports on social media suggesting a postponement of the exercise.

According to the APC, the primary elections will occur on a staggered schedule: the House of Representatives primary will take place on May 15, 2026, the Senate primary on May 18, and the state House of Assembly primary on May 20. Additionally, the governorship primary elections are slated for May 21, 2026.

The party will begin screening incumbent governors on Saturday, with a screening committee that includes notable figures such as Abba Yusuf from Kano State and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya from Gombe State, among others.
