APC Leaders Strategize for 2027 Elections and Tickets

On Thursday night, governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and leaders of the National Assembly convened to strategize for the 2027 elections. The meeting, held at the presidential villa and at the Imo State governor's lodge, was attended by key figures including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abba.

The primary focus was to address the return tickets for National Assembly members and to support those seeking governorship positions. However, some governors, including Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, were absent, reportedly opting for separate audiences with the president.

The APC leadership aims to harmonize the list of candidates and reduce friction among assembly members. The presidential supervisory team is tasked with persuading governors to align with President Bola Tinubu's nomination process, ensuring a blend of experienced lawmakers and new members in the next assembly.
