APC Rejects Automatic Tickets for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially dismissed reports suggesting that current members of the National Assembly would receive automatic tickets for the upcoming 2027 general elections. Nentaw Yilwatda, the party's national chairman, clarified during a media briefing in Abuja that the APC's constitution does not allow for automatic ticket provisions.

He emphasized that the party cannot promise automatic tickets to any individual, as the electoral laws of Nigeria stipulate clear procedures for candidate selection. Yilwatda stated that all aspirants, including current lawmakers, will need to go through the established processes, which may include either consensus or direct primaries.

He reiterated the importance of internal democracy within the party, asserting that the performance of officeholders will play a crucial role in garnering support during the primaries. The APC's stance reflects its commitment to following the electoral act and ensuring that all party members participate in the selection process.
