APC Lawmakers Face Challenges Over 2027 Election Tickets

In an interview on Wednesday, Sumner Sambo, a director at Arise Television, expressed concerns regarding the current situation of APC lawmakers as they approach the 2027 elections. He noted that many lawmakers are "trapped in a bubble" over promises of automatic tickets for re-election.

Sambo emphasized that the party's rules need to change to accommodate lawmakers seeking re-election. Reports indicate that there is a push to guarantee return tickets for these lawmakers to secure their seats, particularly as outgoing governors seek senatorial tickets.

Internal discussions within the APC leadership are reportedly ongoing to manage the situation and prevent an internal crisis during the party primaries. Tajudeen Abba, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has argued that granting return tickets to lawmakers who have performed well is essential to sustain the reforms championed by President Bola Tinubu's administration.
