Over 1,000 APC Members Join Nigeria Democratic Congress

More than 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Delta North Senatorial District, as announced by Chief Alex Ikpeazu, the former Convener of the Delta Coalition for Equity. This formal reception took place in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday.

Ikpeazu stated that the defections indicate significant dissatisfaction among APC members regarding years of marginalization and neglect in the region. The defectors, including former party leaders and political stakeholders, pledged to mobilize support for the NDC's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and its governorship candidate, Yovwaye Chris, ahead of the 2027 elections.

NDC state chairman Dr Oyidobo Richmond welcomed the new members, emphasizing equality within the party. He encouraged grassroots mobilization and highlighted Obi's appeal as a factor in attracting new members.

Chris described the defections as part of a broader movement towards a common political objective, urging humility and respect for the party structure.
