APC Postpones Zamfara Congress Amid Defection Rumors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its Zamfara state congress, originally scheduled for March 2, 2026, until further notice. This decision was communicated in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and signed by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentaw Goshw.

The postponement is attributed to ongoing consultations necessary to finalize certain preparatory administrative processes, ensuring an orderly and transparent conduct of the congress. The letter indicates that the APC will communicate a revised schedule in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the guidelines for political parties.

The postponement is linked to reports concerning Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal, who is currently a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and is reportedly considering a defection to the APC.
