Lawal's Defection Boosts APC Membership in Zamfara

Governor Dauda Lawal's recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has triggered a substantial surge in party membership in Zamfara State. Malam Abubakar Nakwada, the Secretary to the State Government, announced that the total number of registered APC members in Zamfara has risen to 158,697, following the reopening of the party's registration portal.

Within just three days of this reopening, approximately 60,987 new members joined the party, adding to the 97,710 members already registered prior to Governor Lawal's move. This surge reflects an average of 20,000 people registering daily, showcasing the governor's strong grassroots appeal and growing popularity of the APC in the state.

Nakwada expressed optimism that the party would reach its new membership target by the March 25 deadline and commended the impressive turnout despite harsh weather conditions. He reiterated the administration's commitment to prioritizing the welfare interests of Zamfara residents.
