APC Primaries: Serving Reps Face Major Election Losses

During the APC primaries held on Saturday, multiple serving members of the House of Representatives faced significant defeats in their bids for re-election. In Benue State, six members, including Georg Akum, lost their nominations, with Akum failing to retain his candidacy against David Nongo, who received 17,429 votes compared to Akum's 729.

Other notable losses included David Ogewu defeating Peter Ogbodo and Terseer Ugbor losing to Sekav Iyortyom. In Nasarawa State, two-term member Ari Abdulmumin Muhammad lost to Moham Al Bashir Baba Yarima, polling 31,796 votes against Muhammad's 9,039.

In Plateau State, Yusuf Gagdi, chairman of the House Committee on Navy, lost his third-term ticket to Dr. John Tongshinen, who garnered 29,968 votes.

Additionally, in Edo State, Eseosa Iyaw lost the APC ticket for Oredo Federal Constituency. The primaries produced major upsets, indicating a shift in party dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
