APC Primaries: Niger Deputy Speaker and 15 Lawmakers Defeated

In the recent APC primaries, Niger State House Deputy Speaker Affiniki Dauda and 15 other lawmakers lost their bids to represent the party in the upcoming elections. Dauda, who currently represents the Gurara constituency, was among those defeated by newcomers.

The APC primaries did not field any women candidates for the 27 seats in the legislature. However, Speaker of the House Alhaji Abdulmalik Sarkindaji successfully returned unopposed for the Magama constituency.

Other returning members include Alhaji Abdulmalik Bala Yakubu for Katcha, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman for Gomna Bosso, Alhaji Moham Edati for Mashegu, Alhaji Alhassan Isah for Mashegu, Alhaji Bello Bako for Rijau, Alhaji Murtala Adamu Badaru for Suleja, Alhaji Ndagi Zakari for Mokwa, Alhaji Nasir Umar for Paikoro, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar for Ahmadu Gbako, Alhaji Zubair Ismaila for Rafi, and Alhaji Dogari Daje for Munya. The results were announced by the APC secretariat on Thursday evening, with the committee chairman Alhaji Danlami Moham Abubakar present.

Notably, many incumbents lost their primaries, with Governor Moham Umaru Bago absent during the event.
