APC Secretary Arrested for Involvement in Monarch's Murder

Simbad Ogbuatu, the publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, was arrested over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of traditional ruler Chief Francis Igw from Ikwo Local Government Area. Governor Francis Nwifuru disclosed this information during a condolence visit to the late monarch's family.

It was reported that Chief Igw's father was a former deputy governor of the state, Kelechi Igw. The governor stated that investigations by security agencies traced bank accounts allegedly used for ransom negotiations.

Ogbuatu was implicated during party meetings where it was suggested that money was paid to him. He reportedly admitted to providing bank account details during interrogation, which were linked to a N200 million land transaction.

The investigation also revealed that Ogbuatu had contact with members of the kidnapping gang, leading to his arrest when he was lured to a meeting point to collect ransom money.
