APC Prepares for National Convention with Zonal Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set the stage for its national convention by successfully conducting zonal elections across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. The convention is scheduled for March 27-28, 2023, in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu, who returned to Nigeria from a state visit to the United Kingdom, emphasized the need for overwhelming support for the APC in the upcoming 2027 presidential elections. The South West zonal congress, held at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, saw Dr.

Isaac Kekemek re-elected as the national vice chairman, with a total of 3,188 delegates participating. The congress adopted a consensus option for electing new executives, adhering to the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act.

Prominent attendees included Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, who expressed confidence in the party's strength across the region. The South South zonal congress also produced Victor Giadom as chairman, reinforcing the APC's political presence in the region.
