APC Increases Senate Control to 88 Seats with New Senators

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reinforced its position in the Nigerian Senate by swearing in four new senators, bringing its total to 88 seats in the 109-member upper legislative chamber. The new senators, Asogwa Israel from Enugu North, Danladi Envulu Anza from Nasarawa North, Dayo Faduyile from Ondo South, and Olaka Nwogu from Rivers South East, were elected on the APC platform during recent bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed the new lawmakers and urged them to familiarize themselves with the Senate's standing orders and parliamentary procedures to contribute effectively to legislative activities. Akpabio emphasized the importance of adhering to established rules and procedures in the Senate, reminding the lawmakers that decisions made in the chamber are guided by these rules, not personal preferences.
