APC Names Kashim Shettima as Tinubu's Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) unveiled Kashim Shettima as Bola Tinubu's running mate for the upcoming 2027 presidential election during an event in Abuja. This decision comes amid speculation regarding the choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, which has been a topic of controversy since the 2015 elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set a deadline of July 11, 2026, for political parties to upload their candidate names. Tinubu expressed confidence in receiving overwhelming support from the APC's 12 million members, emphasizing the party's achievements and the need to mobilize voters across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda, the APC's national chairman, assured that the party would present the best candidates in the history of Nigeria for the elections.

The event was attended by various APC governors, including Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who are committed to supporting Tinubu's candidacy.
