APC Urges INEC To Cancel By-election In Kano, Gives Reason

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the by-election in Kano due to widespread violence and disruption by armed thugs. The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, mentioned that 200 thugs were arrested by the police across the state during the exercise.

The ruling party alleged that verifiable reports from Shanono, Bagwai, and Ghari showed voters fleeing polling units as security personnel were overwhelmed by violence. The APC described the election as utter brigandage and violent voter intimidation, which would violate the principles of a free, fair, and peaceful poll.

In a separate incident, former Zamfara State governorship candidate and APC member, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Abuja. Shinkafi called the attack unprovoked and related it to his vocal critique of insecurity in Zamfara State.
