Saraki Urges PDP to Hold Fresh Convention for Unity

Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, has urged stakeholders within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to halt ongoing litigation and unite to stabilize the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. This call follows a recent Appeal Court ruling that nullified the outcome of a controversial national convention held in Ibadan last year, which has led to fresh uncertainties regarding the party's leadership structure.

Saraki warned that further legal battles could complicate the party's ability to meet timelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for candidate nominations, especially as the Supreme Court verdict is awaited. He emphasized the need for the party to provide a credible platform for its members seeking electoral office and called for dialogue among factions to restore unity.

Saraki highlighted the importance of prioritizing collective interests over personal ambitions to avoid undermining the party's future electoral prospects.
