Saraki: PDP National Convention Key for 2027 Elections

Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, stated that the forthcoming National Convention of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is the only opportunity for the party to secure a place on the ballot for the 2027 general elections. He argued that the convention, set to commence on Sunday, is essential for the PDP to act appropriately in fielding candidates for various electoral positions, including the presidency.

Saraki expressed optimism that the national convention would take place despite ongoing court actions led by Tanimu Turaki and other party members. He emphasized that he does not belong to any faction within the party and believes that the party has a chance to contest effectively.

Saraki also explained that his actions are consistent with giving the Ibadan convention the benefit of the doubt and dismissed allegations of collusion with Nyesom Wike, a minister from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to ensure the APC's success in the general elections.
