Arewa Group Demands Equal Focus on Kidnapped Children

An Arewa group has urged for equal attention to the plight of kidnapped school children in Nigeria, particularly referencing the abduction of 40 children, including a toddler, from Mussa Primari Junior Secondary School in Borno State on May 15. The group criticized the lack of national concern for the victims, especially in light of a recent incident in Oyo State where gunmen invaded multiple schools, abducting pupils and teachers.

Dr. Abdullahi Idri, the Director of ACI, noted that despite the severity of the situation in Borno State, there has been little visible solidarity or advocacy from major national stakeholders, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).

The group emphasized that all human lives are valuable, regardless of region, ethnicity, or religion, and called for a more unified response to the ongoing insecurity affecting schools across Nigeria.
