Arewa Think Tank Defends Minister Ojo Against Allegations

The Arewa Think Tank, represented by Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, has come to the defense of the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, regarding allegations of interference with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) concerning the two-year service extension for Commandant General Ahm Abubakar Audi. Yakubu dismissed the claims as false and politically motivated, asserting that they were part of a narrative circulating in the northern region.

He emphasized that the Minister's actions are aligned with due process and have received presidential approval from Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recognizing Audi's performance. The Coalition of Northern Youth Consultative Movement (CNYCM) had accused the Minister of attempting to block the extension, which Yakubu refuted, highlighting Audi's significant operational successes, including the arrest of 1,200 criminals and the establishment of a civil defense academy.

Yakubu urged stakeholders to avoid inflammatory statements that could undermine public confidence in security institutions.
