APC Primaries Criticized as Undermining Democracy

Deji Elumoy, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), condemned the recent primaries for the Ekiti North Senatorial District, calling them a sham that casts doubt on Nigeria's democracy. He stated that the APC committee's supervision led to the declaration of Cyril Fasuyi as the winner, despite concerns raised by contenders Dipo Bamisaye and Dare Owolabi, who dismissed the outcome as fraudulent and manipulated.

Elumoy criticized the party's internal democracy, suggesting that it merely pays lip service to democratic principles. He highlighted the challenges posed by the influence of state governors in the electoral process, which complicates the candidacy of individuals not favored by them.

Elumoy called for reforms to ensure that the electoral process is transparent and representative of the people's will. He expressed optimism that the APC's national committee would address these issues and improve the democratic process within the party.
