APC Faces Internal Crisis Over Controversial Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently grappling with internal turmoil following its recent primary elections held for senatorial and governorship positions. Aspirants across various states, including Kogi, Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Ondo, Imo, Rivers, Benue, Adamawa, Kaduna, Bauchi, Ekiti, Cross River, Kwara, and Oyo, have publicly rejected the outcomes, citing allegations of malpractice and imposition of candidates.

Notably, Isah Jibrin from Kogi State expressed his discontent with the official results, which favored Usman Ododo, claiming he remains the authentic candidate for Kogi East. In Lagos, Desmond Elliot also rejected the primary results, indicating a formal challenge process.

Other aspirants, such as Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani and Abdulmumin Kundak, have similarly contested the validity of the primaries in their respective districts. The situation poses a significant test for the APC's ability to manage internal crises as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
