APC Aspirant Akinyomi Demands Fresh Ondo Primary Election

Akinyomi, an aspirant for the APC in Ondo State, condemned the results of the House of Representatives primary election conducted on May 16, 2026, where Akingboy David was declared the winner with 9,284 votes. Akinyomi alleged that the primary was hijacked by APC leaders who favored an anointed candidate, describing the election as a sham with no credible electoral process.

He called for the national leadership of the APC to cancel the primary and conduct a fresh election in accordance with electoral laws and democratic principles. Akinyomi expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a clearly designated venue for the primary, as different groups gathered at separate locations, and claimed there was no presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In response, Steve Otaloro, the APC state media director, denied the allegations, asserting that the primary was free, fair, and transparent, and that the party would address any genuine complaints through the appropriate channels.
