Armed Men Attack Olabisi Onabanjo University Hostels

In the early hours of Saturday, armed men reportedly invaded the hostels of Olabisi Onabanjo University located in Ibogun, assaulting students and stealing valuables. The attack involved approximately 12 armed individuals who forcibly entered student rooms, injuring several students and taking items such as mobile phones and a vehicle, which was later abandoned.

Victims sustained machete wounds during the incident, which heightened security concerns among the student body. Oluwafemi Aderupatan, the president of the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association, expressed frustration over the persistent insecurity affecting students, noting that similar attacks had occurred over the past three months.

Despite daily reports to the police, the situation remains unresolved. Prof.

Ayodeji Agboola, the Vice Chancellor of the university, stated that efforts are underway to address the security situation. Oluseyi Babaseyi, a spokesperson for the state police command, assured that investigations are ongoing and additional security measures are being implemented in the area.
