Army Arrests 71 Suspected Oil Thieves In Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army's 6 Division arrested 71 suspected oil thieves and confiscated stolen oil products in various operations across the Niger Delta region from July 21 to August 10, 2025. Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations, Danjuma Jonah, revealed that 14 illegal refining sites were deactivated during the operations.
Additionally, stolen crude oil and other illicit materials were recovered from different locations, including Degema and Yenagoa in Rivers State, as well as Nembe in Bayelsa State. The troops also intercepted vehicles loaded with stolen oil products in Delta State.
Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah of the 6 Division NA commended the informants and emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of seized products before handing them over for prosecution.
