Nigerian Army Smashes Gunrunning Syndicate, Arrests 35 Suspects in Niger Delta Crackdown

The Nigerian Army's 6 Division smashed a gunrunning syndicate in the Niger Delta, arresting 35 suspected oil thieves. The operation led to the apprehension of key suspects like Innocent Emiyemokumo and the recovery of weapons in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa States.

The troops destroyed six illegal refining sites and confiscated stolen products, intensifying efforts against oil theft in the region. Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, Danjuma Jonah, highlighted the success of the operation conducted between August 25 and September 7, 2025.

This crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.
