Troops Seize 32,000 Litres Of Stolen Crude, Arrest 69 Suspects In Niger Delta

Troops from the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army have seized a total of 32,000 litres of stolen petroleum products and arrested 69 suspects in a crackdown on oil theft in the Niger Delta region. Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, stated that the troops, in collaboration with security agencies, dismantled nine illegal refining sites during the operation.

The crackdown targeted hotspots in Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom states. The troops intercepted trucks carrying illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in Sapele and also dismantled illegal refining sites in Nana Town, Warri North, and Degema, among other locations.

The suspects have been handed over for prosecution, and the seized products are being managed according to operational procedures.
