Army Arrests Suspected Attacker in Benue Community

On March 13, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, under the command of Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, successfully apprehended a high-profile suspect, Mr. Suurnen David Akum, aged 27, in Agasha Village, Guma Local Government Area, Benue State.

This operation was initiated following credible reports of an attack on local residents, which prompted swift action from the troops. The Chief of Army Staff intervened, leading to the immediate deployment of Battalion XI to the area.

Upon arrival, the troops cordoned off the area to prevent the suspect's escape and conducted a targeted search operation. During the arrest, local firearms were recovered.

Major General Mose Gara, the force commander, praised the troops for their professional tactics that led to the successful apprehension of the suspect and encouraged them to maintain operational momentum and vigilance in ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of operation within the area.
