Troops Arrest Suspected Terrorists, Seize Weapons in Benue

On March 26, 2026, troops from the OPW conducted an operation in Benue based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of suspected criminals in the area. The operation, led by Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, successfully apprehended suspects identified as Sule Ibrahim, Salmanu Risko from Nasarawa State, and Abdulkareem Haruna Jo from Plateau State.

During the operation, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines containing 27 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, a cutlass, and 10 sachets of alcohol. The suspects are currently in military custody pending preliminary investigations and subsequent prosecution.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to secure farming communities ahead of the wet season, with troops maintaining an aggressive posture to deny criminal elements freedom of action across the state. Major General Mose Gara, the OPW spokesman, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience in safeguarding lives and property within the joint operational area.
