Nigerian Army Arrests Two Gunrunners in Taraba State

On March 19, 2026, troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, conducted a routine stop-and-search operation along the Wukari-Ikyaior road in Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State. During this operation, they arrested two suspects identified as Mr.

Wisdom Soomga, a 32-year-old from Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, and Mr. Elisha Danladi, a 38-year-old native of Wukari Local Government Area in Taraba State.

A thorough search of the suspects led to the recovery of 444 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, as well as cash totaling 29,200 Naira, two mobile phones, an ATM card, charms, and personal belongings. The recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation to ascertain their source and intended use.
