Troops Intercept 1,084 Rounds of Ammunition in Nigeria

In a recent operation, Nigerian Army troops apprehended two suspected gun-runners and intercepted a total of 1,084 rounds of ammunition. This operation was part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply of weapons to criminal groups across the country.

The arrests occurred during intelligence-led operations in the northwest and north-central regions. Specifically, on March 14, a female suspect was apprehended in Kano while transporting 884 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, accompanied by her 10-year-old daughter.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was allegedly paid N50,000 to deliver the ammunition and had reportedly carried out similar deliveries on two previous occasions. The recovered ammunition is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.

Additionally, troops conducted operations under "Operation Whirl Stroke" in the Agwatashi Obi local government area of Nasarawa State, leading to further apprehensions of suspects involved in gun-running activities.
