Army Chief Urges Troops to Enhance Security in Plateau

On September 14, 2026, during an operational visit to the headquarters of 3 Division and Operation Enduring Peace in Abuja, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, directed personnel to intensify efforts against criminal groups while supporting peace-building initiatives in Plateau State and surrounding areas. He reviewed the security environment and ongoing operations aimed at protecting vulnerable communities and sustaining progress from the peace process.

Shaibu inspected the construction of the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Control Station, which will enhance the Army’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance capabilities. Major General Maxwell Dangana, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, briefed Shaibu on current operations and security arrangements.

Shaibu commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to remain vigilant while cooperating with other security agencies and community leaders. He stressed that military action must complement dialogue and reconciliation efforts to ensure lasting peace.
