Nigerian Army Clarifies Death of General Braimah in Borno

The Nigerian Army issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the death of General Oseni Braimah, who was killed during an ambush at a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State. The Army dismissed viral reports claiming that 17 soldiers were killed, labeling them as false and misleading.

Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, a spokesman for the North East Joint Task Force, confirmed that the verified casualty figures were two officers and two soldiers. He emphasized that the reports circulating on social media were exaggerated and lacked credible official verification.

Uba refuted claims regarding the failure of the brigade command's vehicle, stating that it was temporarily immobilized due to combat conditions, not equipment failure. He urged the public to disregard misleading images and videos that could incite panic.

President Bola Tinubu expressed condolences to the families of the soldiers killed in the attack, including General Braimah.
