Army Commander Urges Troops to Intensify Security Efforts

On September 4, 2026, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, visited Owena Cantonment in Akure, Ondo State, where he addressed the troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade. He charged them to sustain pressure on criminal elements and deny them freedom of action within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.

During his visit, he reviewed the security situation and the measures being implemented by the troops. Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the Acting Deputy Director of 2 Division Army Public Relations, reported that the GOC was closely monitoring the security challenges faced by the Brigade.

Mahmuda acknowledged the troops' performance and urged them to maintain an aggressive operational posture. He also assured them of the Nigerian Army's commitment to their welfare, citing a recent salary increment as recognition of their contributions.

He encouraged the troops to uphold professional standards and improve their operational performance.
