Nigerian Army Intercepts Terrorist Ammunition Couriers

On April 20, 2026, troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army conducted an operation in Kogi State, intercepting two suspected terrorist ammunition couriers along the Obajana-Kabba road in the Lokoja local government area. Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers set up a snap checkpoint and stopped a Toyota bus traveling from Makurdi to Obajana.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullah. The troops recovered a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver's seat, along with a mobile phone and identification documents.

This operation followed a previous success on March 29, 2026, where troops intercepted another suspect courier on a motorcycle. The military emphasized that these operations are part of their sustained intelligence-driven efforts to dismantle terrorist supply chains and enhance security in the region.
