Nigerian Army Neutralizes Terrorist in Kogi Operation

In an operation conducted in the early hours of Sunday, troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army neutralized a suspected terrorist in Kogi State. The operation targeted identified bandits crossing a point within the Adankolo Forest Reserve in the Lokoja Local Government Area.

A statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, indicated that the troops acted on credible intelligence and laid an ambush for the suspects. During the operation, the troops engaged in a firefight with the armed group, resulting in the neutralization of one suspect, while others fled into the surrounding forest.

Items recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles, a locally fabricated pistol, six magazines, 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, camouflage clothing, a Honda motorcycle, three mobile phones, three power banks, and diclofenac medication, totaling a value of 62,900 Naira. This operation is part of the ongoing "Operation Tiger Paw II," aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and strengthening security across Kogi State and adjoining areas.
