Army Denies Cleric Abduction at Yari's Residence
The Nigerian Army, through Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, stated that reports of a cleric being abducted at Senator Abdul’aziz Yari’s residence are false. Intelligence indicates that the abductions occurred while individuals were traveling from the Sububu forest area in Bakura Local Government Area to Talata Mafara.
The Army is working with other security agencies to rescue the victims. Six Juma’at Imams were reportedly kidnapped by suspected bandits while en route to a prayer session organized by Yari, the Director-General of the Tinubu 2027 re-election campaign council and former governor of Zamfara State.
The event aimed to gather 2,933 Imams for prayers. The abduction took place near Gidan Suleiman Bature in Gonar Sarkin Forest.
A local resident expressed concern over the lack of visible security response, stating that the community feels imprisoned due to fear of bandit attacks.
