Bandits Abduct Five Clerics at Senator Yari's Residence

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, five Islamic clerics were abducted by suspected bandits at the residence of Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State. The clerics had gathered for a prayer session, having traveled from Bakura and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas.

The victims include Imam Yahuza, First Jumma’at Imam of Dogon Madacci; Magawata Abdullahi, Second Jumma’at Imam of Dogon Madacci; Malam Shehu Dakko; Imam Bala Fagon; and Na’ibi Tasi’u of Tungar Nagudai. A source indicated that the clerics were invited for the religious gathering before the bandits stormed the area.

The incident has been described as alarming, highlighting the worsening security situation in Zamfara, where bandit attacks and kidnappings are prevalent. Residents have expressed renewed concerns for their safety and have called for increased operations by security agencies to combat armed groups.
