Nigerian Army Retires 28 Senior Officers in Ceremony

On Friday, the Nigerian Army conducted a retirement ceremony for 28 senior officers, comprising 17 Major Generals and 11 Brigadier Generals, at the Infantry Corps Headquarters in Jaji. Maj Gen Usman Yusuf, speaking on behalf of the retirees, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve, highlighting the emotional significance of the event and the decades of sacrifice dedicated to the nation.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, for approving the ceremony, which honored the contributions of the retiring generals. Yusuf noted the inevitability of retirement in military service and urged active officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and loyalty.

He stressed the importance of the army's proactive operations in response to complex security threats facing Nigeria. The ceremony also featured a parade and the presentation of souvenirs to symbolize the retirement of the generals, marking a significant transition in the army's leadership.
