Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnapped Lt. Colonel in Enugu

Troops of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued Lt. Col.

Ofor Amobi and civilian Mr. Ikechukwu Onwuanra after a 10-day joint search-and-rescue operation in Enugu State.

The operation, conducted by Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, involved personnel from the 82 Division Garrison, 103 Battalion (Reinforced), the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service, and the 197 Special Forces Battalion. The rescue occurred in the early hours of Friday, following intelligence received from the Divisional Police Officer of Inyi Division at approximately 2:00 a.m.

The troops conducted intensive searches across Inyi, Awlaw, and Akpugo-Eze forests in Oji River Local Government Area. The victims were found abandoned at the edge of a forest, both sustaining gunshot wounds.

They were rescued and evacuated to the 82 Division Medical Hospital for treatment. Preliminary interrogation revealed they had been blindfolded, transported to an unknown location, and later abandoned along the Enugu-Anambra border.

The military attributed the successful rescue to sustained pressure on the kidnappers.
