Nigerian Army Reunites Rescued Women and Children in Borno

On April 22, 2023, the Nigerian Army conducted a reunion ceremony in Ngosh Community, Borno State, where nine women and children, previously held captive by terrorists, were successfully reunited with their families. The victims, rescued by troops from the 82 Division Task Force Battalion during an operation in the Mandara Mountain area, included Zainab Umar (22), Aisha Abubakar (20), Aisha Audu (20), Aisha Idri (17), Aisha Abubakar (16), Aisha Musa (10), and Musa Umar (6), along with two toddlers.

Reports indicated that some of the women had been forcibly married by their captors. The event, which began at 4:00 PM, was marked by visible relief and celebration among community members, including the district head and other stakeholders.

Following the reunion, the victims were taken to a community clinic for medical examinations and further care. This successful rescue and reunion highlight the ongoing efforts of military authorities to protect civilians and restore normalcy in conflict-affected areas.
